AMERICAN TRADITIONAL

This style was inspired by the English furniture makers Fife, Hepplewhite and Sheraton and influenced by the French empire. Fife is the most famous federal furniture designer and his work clearly defines this style. It is reserved and dignified in mood, classical because of geometric patterns seen throughout the kitchen cabinets.

The following are wood that can be used on the kitchen cabinet; walnut, mahogany and cherry. Inset doors with classic Greek key molding or intricate applied moldings are features of this style. Doors can also be curve with raise panel, with a classic white finish on the cabinet.

Polished brass hardware can be used with this style. Intricate metal work is also appropriate.

Laminate or solid surface countertops with detailed edges or natural stone in polish finish can be used. Delicate and patterned tiles are excellent accents.

Wood parquet patterns are ideal for the floor. Simple square vinyl or tiles are also acceptable.

The walls can be plastered with elaborate door and window moldings.

The ceiling can be plastered with ceiling crown moldings.
